The activity fee for participation in extra-curricular activities remains unchanged for the 2022-2023 school year.  This is an annual fee, and a one-time payment allows a student to participate in as many activities as he/she chooses.  The fee for elementary participation is $27. More information can be found here:
WCASD Activity Fee Information
Our district is committed to ensuring that no student will be denied extracurricular activity participation because of a concern regarding cost, therefore we also provide information regarding financial help.

In order to help parents with a convenient, fair and seamless payment process, the district is again using PayForIt, an on line method of making a payment.  Directions for using this system can be found on individual school websites.

Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade have the option to play the violin, viola, cello or bass. Students take lessons in a group, and meet once a week for 30 minutes. The lessons take place on the same day every week, but the lesson time  changes weekly so that students are not pulled from the same portion of their class day.
It is important for students to check the string schedule that is posted in each classroom. The string schedule is also posted outside of the Orchestra Room.

4th & 5th graders combine to form a string Orchestra, which performs in our annual Winter and Spring concerts. 3rd graders have their debut performance for grades K-3 in February, and their Spring recorder & string concert in May. 4th & 5th grade students also have the opportunity to audition and play with the WCASD Elementary Honors Orchestra, which begins in January. Students in WCASD can perform in Orchestra all the way through 12th grade! We have a terrific orchestra program!

PRACTICE!!
Practice is something that most parents and young musicians struggle with. Playing a shiny new instrument holds a lot of allure! However, like any skill, it requires discipline. Click on the below articles for some great tips on how to establish a practice routine, and even make practicing fun! The rewards are worth the effort.
